Like most new traders, I thought learning technical analysis meant memorizing formulas. "RSI above 70 = sell." "MACD crossover = buy." Simple, right?

Wrong. I lost $15,000 in my first year following textbook signals that worked perfectly in courses but failed miserably in real markets.
